Bellwork: Any questions over genetics before the test
Today we test over genetics. Bellwork: How are different breeds of dogs achieved? Today we discuss selective breeding and then review for the test. Powerpoint and test review are below.
Bellwork: A homozygous black cow is crossed with a homozygous white cow. Black and white are equally dominant. What would their offspring look like with incomplete dominance? What would their offspring look like with codominance? We discussed pedigrees and how they are utilized to trace genetic disorders. The assignment is below.
Bellwork: What is an allele? What is a genotype? We discussed complete and incomplete dominance, as well as sex-linked traits. The powerpoint and assignment are below.
Bellwork: What is the difference between homozygous and heterozygous? We talked about punnett squares and worked various problems utilizing them. The power point and worksheets are below.
Bellwork: Where do your traits come from? We started talking about heredity and how traits are passed on. We watched a Crash Course in Biology on heredity and used probability and pennies to create a face. All found below.
Bellwork: Any questions over replication, transcription or translation Today we took a quiz over DNA and protein synthesis. After the quiz, students worked on a vocabulary sheet for the next unit, Genetics. The sheet is attached below.
Bellwork: Where does translation occur? Where does transcription occur? Today we worked on a protein synthesis activity. I have a makeup assignment loaded below.
Bellwork: Why is replication necessary?
Today we finished the notes packet and moved on to transcription. We also worked on a transcription sheet. Please see me for the worksheet if you missed it. |
